[...] The famous Peles Castle was built by King Carol I of Romania between 1839 and 1914. It was meant to serve as the monarch’s summer retreat. Actually the Peles Castle is a very important national museum. It´s located a 40 minutes walk from Sinaia to the Castle. Visitors of the Peles Castle are greeted upon entry by a beautiful statue of King Carol I. The cost in the 19th century was enormous: In today´s currency approximately € 87,3 million! It houses a great collection of arms, armor and art pieces. Inside the Arsenal: 1,600 examples of armor and weapons. The most notable grand rooms are: Holul de Onoare (The Honor Hall), Apartamentul Imperial (The Imperial Suite), Salonul Maur (The Moorish Salon), Salonul Turcesc (The Turkish Parlor), Sala Florentina (The Florentine Room), Sala Mare De Arme (The Grand Armory or The Arsenal), Sala Mica De Arme (The Small Armory).
